Starting Fresh
Hey, internet.
I've decided to start blogging again. Yeah, I know.
Ok so I have a few disclaimers.
But blogs are an interesting and accessible format for journalling. I've been thinking of a new way to do this that allows for a place for me to collect and organize my academic research and the things I'm learning as an English and Gender Studies student, my independent and personal research in birth, becoming an IBCLC, potentially becoming a doula or a birth educator; and archiving personal memories or fun experiences in a place I can (if I choose to!) share them with others. I'm on my computer so often, or have my phone, and I can type a hell of a lot faster than I write. While I love printed material and the ephemeral nature of a physical journal, it can get lost, or damaged, and it's not as accessible for me if I'm truly trying to maintain writing in it.
There you have it. My reasons for returning. To share. Even if it may be totally unwarranted. I'm interested in such an array of things, I'd like to use the internet as a place to vomit them onto a document, explore organizing them into maybe something cohesive, or if not -- then to find people to connect with on one aspect of these things I'm interested in.
Because the field I plan to go into (as well as my path there) is so much about alternative methodologies, I'm trying to make sense of it all by finding others interested in these same things, even if not in combination with one another in the way that I am.
So here's what you can expect:
I've decided to start blogging again. Yeah, I know.
Ok so I have a few disclaimers.
- Blogs are stupid. I mean, I follow some peoples' blogs and I really enjoy reading them. I read blogs that are important, some that are inspiring, and some that are perhaps (definitely) just me being nosy and voyeuristic and wanting to see what peoples' lives are like.
- Blogs are vain. No one cares about what's going on with me, I'm sure of it. The people who care just ask me what's going on and because there's so few of them, I just tell 'em.

So here's what you can expect:
- Posts about nannying, child-rearing, or my experiences working with children.
- Posts about my studies. Poetry I'm reading, poems I'm working on, gender theory I'm wrestling with, how much I love Mount Holyoke College.
- Posts about midwifery, and other birth-related things like doula training, childbirth education, lactation (lots of lactation), and understanding different conceptualizations of motherhood.
- Posts about veganism, dogs, awesome food I've eaten or food I want to make.
- Posts about my friends, my family, my boyfriend, my personal life. Not too personal. This is the internet, after all. I just want to document my life a little, even if it's vain. Even if no one cares. :)
I think that's all I've got to say, for now!
Until next time,
M
